A New Thing

At the top of year 2012 we get the very real sense that God is doing a new thing.  God is doing a new thing in your own personal life; corporately here at Victory Church; on a national New Zealand level; and globally.

Isaiah 42:9.  Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

What is the new thing? It is something that we will have seen before but it will be fresh – it will be revived!  God’s new thing is different.  In these last days we need to be prepared for the new thing that God is doing.  Get ready for old things that will become new.

The number 12 speaks of divine order, of new administration.  Acts 4:31 says, ‘And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.‘  The shakings that the assembled experienced were shakings unto life; shakings of construction not destruction.  The disciples who were gathered together in that upper room were filled and thrilled… and ready to be spilled… to spread the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven.

The church is not a bunch of individuals.  The church is a container, a vessel.  2 Corinthians 4:7. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

It is time for the church to step away from ‘the old garments’, from the old plans – and the time to do it is NOW!

The old plans have been shaken to bits and pieces. The old garments have been shaken off.   There is no point in staying amidst the debris, no purpose in standing around the old stuff.

At the top of 2012 determine in your heart to take a step of faith – move away from the old things and walk into the new.
